Gibson Robb Partners Lead Cargo Panel at 2017 Pacific Admiralty Seminar

On November 27, 2017, Gibson Robb partner Joshua Southwick chaired the cargo panel at the bi-annual Pacific Admiralty Seminar in San Francisco. The seminar is a widely attended continuing legal education event for maritime attorneys. Mr. Southwick’s panel focused on cargo issues and litigation faced by intermediaries, including OTI’s, freight forwarders, brokers, and 3PL’s. Topics included fallout from the Hanjin bankruptcy, federal preemption in various modes of transport, and representing NVOCC’s in major casualty litigation. Gibson Robb partner Michael Cummins focused his presentation on emerging issues relating to FAAA pre-emption arguments raised by freight broker and others in response to cargo loss and damage claims.
